This album began in the Fall of 2008 just before Rebecca, myself, and our 2 daughters, Ivy & Lily, moved from British Columbia to Ontario. Rebecca had a couple new songs that we wanted to record with Jonathan Anderson before we moved. We also wanted to capture the unique vocal chemistry of Michelle and Rebecca that was soon to be separated by the move. So I did my musical part of watching the kids while Rebecca, Michelle and Jonathan headed into the studio to record. Shortly after we arrived in Ontario I discovered a beautiful record label from Montreal called Chat Blanc Records (releasing mostly minimal electronic music). This inspired me to seek out some electronic artists to remix, recreate and recapture our music. Pascal Asselin, the owner and creator of Chat Blanc Records himself, was kind enough to remix Snowflakes. The Raskol Committee is Matt Thomas from the legendary Vancouver band Dawntreader (R.I.P.). Dawntreader is the greatest band that nobody will ever hear...unfortunately they pulled the plug on themselves before the world got to hear their music. I have never met Pip, nor the The Dandelion Council, we met online, but not in a creepy way - our relationship is strictly musical - Pip's music is fantastic. And lastly, Jonathan Anderson, who has played a vital role in everything musical from Maplewood Lane to Kensington Prairie, did a nice little remix of A Song for the Hoping.
Enjoy,
Nathan Rowan
